Harassment

I have been in the educational sector for the better part of my working years and one thing that saddens me about this sector is what is called "sexual harassment" especially in the tertiary institutions. I read about it, my students share their experiences and it really saddens me. Yes one is expected to come to the university as an adult able to make his or her decisions but why should an individual be forced to sleep with another because he has a measure of power over her? Am not bothered about two consenting adults, in this case a student who is willing and may even offer her body to her lecturer, but am more bothered about those students who are not willing to sleep with their lecturers but are forced to because they need to graduate. Why must you force a student through her circumstances to do something that is against her wish? What about your marital vows if you are married, does it mean nothing to you? Have lecturers who indulge in this habit never heard of the law of karma, what you sow you reap? In essence, even if they cannot be harassed their children may fall into this trap sooner or later? These are just my thoughts share yours with me

  1. Hmmm! I had thought your thoughts but never knew it is this well framed and animated in your heart. Why do Lecturers harass students (mainly, ladies)? The answers are limitless..1. Most University systems have no check for the ill behaviour, and this is why both old lecturers and new ones see it as a free sin to commit. 2. Some girls are so dumb that the only way they think great is when their legs are apart...such ladies sleep with both lecturers and business men to climb over their challenges 3. Again, most universities don't cross-check students grade, dt is why erring lecturers can award scores to their victims/partners as the case may be for their immoral performance freely.

Until we make the system work, immorality and corruption will seem a culture in our eyes.

  2. How do we make the system work? How do we correct erring lecturers? How do we make our girls feel a sense of dignity that is in working for your grades and any other thing in life? As much as I agree that harassment has always been in the system but it has gotten worse over the years, a result of a society that no longer bothers about any values? What do those of us who feel concern do? Are we sure that the syndrome of if you cannot beat them join them will notnapply to us soon? So many questionsnbegging answers. Can someone help me please
